It's been another full weekend. This one much warmer and less damp than the last. Which is a pretty good thing, all in all.
Lots of dust, lots of visitors, lots of grouchy people (which is what happens when sweat makes the dust stick in all sorts of cracks and crevices), and lots of not so grouchy people. A wandering minstrel happened to find our pavilion and settled in (Hi Robert!). He and ever so many more are always invited in for a bit. We're friendly that way. Especially if you bring more people by later! :)
We also had a couple of uninvited guests. A couple of black racers came through and were safely escorted away. Cute, harmless little critters, and fast! It was kind of fun to watch them zipping around trying to get away from all the people. One lady had a tame rat crawling around on her shoulder, and was gracious enough to share his company. I used to raise them - back on the day - so he was a nice addition for a couple of minutes. Then he ran back across to her and they went on their merry way. In truth, I just didn't want them too near the rat puckers. They were happily pucking their way by and I didn't want the little guy to be rat-napped and flung into a tree or anything.
Supper last night was a blast! A bunch of the vendors went out for Indian cuisine. It was a bit spicy for my tastes, so I couldn't partake, even though the flavor of the couple small bites I had was wonderful. It was worth going simply for the company. Great bunch of people. Lots of geek speak. And badgers. If you've never seen weebls, you won't get it.
Oh, and I apologise... Magister is a much better fiddle player than I was letting on. He's actually doing much, MUCH better than I thought he would be at this point. I have a tendency to be a bit harch when picking on people and teasing without realising it's happening and he let me know it got a little bad last night. Sorry baby! But really... He was practicing today and only squeaked a couple of times while he was warming up, which is doing pretty good. Especially considering he played for a good half hour or more and has been only taking lessons for about a month and a half.
Off to redye a bit of old garb, hoping to have something 'new' to wear this weekend. It's getting old rewashing the current garb twice a week, especially after getting in late at night and needing it clean for early next morning.
Hope to see many of you next week!
Up and running, and running, and...

Yes indeedy! It was a heck of a week, most of it spent running around like a headless chicken to get prepared for the first weekend of being set up to do demos and impromptu spinning lessons at BARF. Putting up the pavilion in nothing but sand was a chore. To say the least. -mental note: get dog augers for next year-
Saturday morning was fair enough. The afternoon, however, was a wash. It started raining and the pavilion was inundated with RF board people. A flood of laughter and good times ensued, along with the slow trickle of non-forum people finding their way through every now and again.
Sunday went much better. There were so many more people out - both rennies and mundanes - that we were kept hopping throughout the day and on into the evening, as one of the last people that wandered in stayed and helped pack up and such. Making Seamus do pushups for the 'alcohol abuse' wasn't all that bad, either. Nearly a whole beer, directly into the trash can! Another high point was a visit from her Majesty and the entourage. She tried her hand with a drop spindle and truly has a talent for it.
Hopefully next weekend we'll have an R/F banner hanging to show that we're a safe haven. Maybe people will notice a bit more, as we're kind of tucked into a corner and a bit hard to see.
